The Management Effectiveness for Marine Protected Areas Mentored Course provides marine managers and conservation practitioners with the knowledge and tools to enhance marine protected area (MPA) management effectiveness. As MPAs and other conservation areas (ACAs), including “other effective conservation measures” (OECMs), expand globally, effective management is essential to achieving conservation and socio-economic goals. This course explores key factors throughout the management cycle, helping learners to understand what drives MPA effectiveness, the critical components of success, and how assessments and best practices can be applied to local contexts to improve the chances of achieving long-term conservation and socio-economic outcomes.

Course Duration: This course will take approximately 15 hours of time over five weeks, including two 1-hour webinars, to complete.
